A core part of the ECO 180 model
Smart farming connects agriculture, technology, education, and community opportunity. Our developing Rembert Living Agricultural Laboratory brings aquaponics and measurable farm conditions into one hands-on learning environment.
From a reading to a reason
A number matters when someone understands it. Students explore what changed, whether a reading is reliable, and what evidence should guide a response.
| What learners explore | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Water temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen | Connect water chemistry with plant, fish, and microbial care. |
| Water level and flow | Study circulation, conservation, and system relationships. |
| Greenhouse temperature and humidity | Investigate how growing conditions change. |
| Crop and maintenance records | Compare observations over time and explain decisions. |
Smart Farm Data Lab
Our learning design connects observation journals with sensors and dashboards. Students measure, graph, compare, and explain rather than simply accept a displayed answer. Activities can connect biology, engineering, coding, environmental science, food safety, and agricultural careers.
GroundTruth: observe first, then question
GroundTruth is an initiative in development for youth ages 10–19. Its approach starts with real observations, compares them with AI-generated explanations, questions sources, and asks learners to defend a conclusion with evidence.
Human-reviewed AI assistance supports interpretation. Trained people remain responsible for farm operations, animal care, food safety, and participant safety.
Help build the connection
Technology partners, educators, farmers, and sponsors can contribute sensors, connectivity, training, learning materials, and evaluation expertise.
